Practical visibility improvements for food producers & manufacturers

Hey Reader

Most food producers and manufacturers I talk with aren’t struggling because of product quality — they’re struggling because the right people simply don’t know they exist or don’t clearly understand their capabilities.

Here are a few practical visibility improvements that can make a real difference without adding more to your workload:

Make your website buyer-friendly. Your site should clearly answer:

• What you produce

• Who you serve

• Production capacity or differentiators

• Certifications, compliance, and quality standards

• How a buyer or partner starts a conversation

If someone has to dig to understand your capabilities, they’ll move on.

Document capabilities in plain language.

Many manufacturers undersell themselves because internal language doesn’t translate externally. Create a simple capabilities summary that explains your specialties, equipment, and ideal project fit in language a non-technical buyer can understand.

Strengthen credibility signals. Photos of your facility, team, process, certifications, partnerships, and real-world applications help build trust faster than written claims.

Leverage regional visibility opportunities. Industry associations, manufacturing alliances, and regional economic programs are often overlooked sources of referrals and partnerships — but they frequently lead to introductions that traditional marketing never produces.

Make it easy to start a conversation. A clear contact pathway for partnerships, contract manufacturing, wholesale, or collaboration opportunities removes friction and increases inquiries.

These aren’t marketing tactics — they’re clarity and positioning improvements that help the right opportunities find you.

If you ever want a second set of eyes on how your business is showing up online or where opportunities might be unclear to an outside buyer, I’m always happy to share a perspective.

The Magic of You: Q1 to Q2 - ↓ As we close out Q1, this is the moment most business owners either drift… or decide. Before you jump into Q2 planning, take 20 minutes and answer these five questions: Where did revenue actually come from? Not where you hoped it would come from. Where did it actually come from? What visibility activity produced inquiries? Email? Referrals? LinkedIn? Ads? Be specific. What did you spend time on that didn’t convert? Keep it. Improve it. Or cut it. What offer was...

Hey Reader Lately, I’ve been thinking about how we invite people into our work. Not just with marketing or messaging… but with intention. Those first touchpoints? They’re powerful. They shape how potential clients, partners, or community members feel about working with us. And yet... they can be hard to navigate. I remember in my early days, I put so much pressure on every invitation. I wanted it to be “just right”... polished, persuasive, perfect. But what I’ve learned is this: the most...

Hey Reader One of the biggest visibility mistakes I see? Business owners spending hours on social media… while completely ignoring their Google Business Profile. And here’s the truth: When someone searches for what you do, Google Business often shows up before your website. That means your profile isn’t just a listing — it’s a first impression, trust builder, and lead generator. If your profile is incomplete or outdated, you may be losing clients without even realizing it. Here are 3 quick...
